Hose Management

A user-friendly hose maintenance system that ensures uptime and increased profits.

The maintenance system includes customized software and hardware, expertise, processes, and a specially trained workforce.

Hose Management THM provides optimal hose lifecycle management, reduced maintenance costs, and increased uptime. TESS takes full responsibility for compliance with regulations and standards.

Why a Hose Management System?

Hose rupture can cause the release of hazardous substances that can lead to:

  • Downtime and operational disruptions
  • Dangerous incidents such as fires and accidents
  • Environmental emissions

This can in turn lead to:

  • Risk of injury to people and loss of life
  • Production shutdown and loss of revenue
  • Damaged reputation
  • Serious environmental damage

TESS Hose Management scales to any number of hoses

Complete information about the hose’s components and condition is recorded in the THM database during measurement and inspection. This includes generic data, as well as all relevant details related to hose management and inspection processes.

The maintenance plans have a risk-based approach for setting up inspection and replacement intervals. The intervals can be set as standard on an entire system, or completely independently for each hose.

Certified experts from TESS conduct risk assessments, calculate risk class and identify opportunities for risk-reducing measures in collaboration with the customer’s leading technical personnel. Our personnel has extensive experience in assessing alternative barriers.

Our customers can use this information to target risk-reducing measures on individual hoses.

Examples of risk-reducing measures:

    • Install pipes
    • Set up physical barrier
    • Ensure collection of emissions
    • Hose rupture valves
    • Whipcheck
    • Break away link/Weak link

All hoses are assigned a unique TESS ID number via the system, which is also marked on the hose. The ID number is linked to all registered data about the hose, which ensures quick and easy identification, price request and ordering.

The tags used for marking hoses have very high resistance to UV radiation, salt, ice, oil, etc. If desired, the hoses can also be marked with HF RFID chip.

Hose replacement is done based on inspection results and maintenance plan. New hoses have updated quality and installation geometry. Best practice and the customer’s specification are used as a basis for calculating due dates for inspection and hose replacement.

KundeWEB is used for maintenance status and administration of the hose park. A separate mobile app is used for logging maintenance activities, which also works offline.

The THM Service Menu is a very good tool for increasing uptime on systems. The menu is comprehensive and thus covers most of the needs our customers have:

  • Measurement
  • Marking and registration
  • Inspection
  • Establish structure/hierarchy
  • Risk assessment of the hose park
  • Optimization of the hose park
  • Maintenance strategy
  • Spare parts system
  • Emergency and spare hose kit
  • Education/training
  • Maintenance agreement
  • Maintenance Plan
  • Hose Replacement
  • Hose Management
  • Software as a Service
  • Hardware as a Service

The database provides generic data about hoses and couplings, documentation on each individual hose (history, certificates, drawings, images, etc.), all related details for hose management and inspection processes. A comprehensive audit trail provides good data and control with changes that have been made in the database. The customer logs in to KundeWEB via www.hosemanagement.com.

The software part of the THM system is delivered as Software as a Service (SaaS) and thus contributes to a flexible and low-cost solution for our customers.

Increased Safety with Risk-based Maintenance

On all facilities, there will be different risks of hose rupture. Normally, about 15% of the hoses will be exposed to higher risk. With risk-based maintenance, operational reliability will increase and risk will be reduced by focusing on risk hoses. This results in less downtime on equipment, emissions into the environment and damage to personnel.

Safety will be increased by inspecting the hoses with high criticality more often than those with low criticality. Planning of inspection and replacement of hoses is coordinated with other maintenance and thus further reduces downtime.

Through THM Hose Control, your company is offered a competence package that provides improvements within HSE. Increased knowledge provides incentives for change and improvement, both in systems and among personnel.

Interaction with a hose specialist in turn leads to increased awareness and understanding of safety and the environment. This provides a basis for better compliance with laws and regulations, prevention of pollution and reduced risk.

Competence and Training

TESS can provide training at the customers’ locations both on- and offshore. We have established and implemented a robust training program through our own TESS Academy, which offers training to both employees and customers. Emphasis is placed on useful practical skills and a “hands-on” approach in the training.

Reduced Emissions with Hose Management

THM Hose Control reduces the risk of hose rupture and thus the risk of emissions. In addition, reduced consumption of raw materials and the total reduction of maintenance resources and input factors will create positive results related to the environmental accounts.

The system contributes with documentation on maintenance and HSE, and makes it easier to comply with laws and regulations that ensure reputation.
