Sold the business to TESS
-It is sad to have to sell the business, but this is what needs to be done.
PORSGRUNN: After owning and running Industrifokus in Porsgrunn for the last 20 years, Magne Rønningen has now sold the business to TESS.
-Everyone knows this place as the TOOLS-building, now a different countrywide company takes over, says Magne.
The reasoning behind it is that all the independent dealers if the TOOLS-chain were released at the beginning of this year. Magne Rønningen knew he could not take on the job as the sole dealership of tools for the business and professional market in Grenland, and decided to find a new partner.
His choice fell on TESS and even though neither Rønningen nor the chairman in TESS, Ansgar Karlsen, wishes to make the purchasing amount known, both parties confirms that they are satisfied with the deal.
He points out: -The amount was not the most important thing for me, the partner was.
Magne Rønningen and the 7 employees at Industrifokus will stay on, even if TESS has a department in Porsgrunn the two will not be merged.
-It’ is sad to have to sell the business, but this is what needs to be done. To stay in the game we need a strong partner backing us, he says.
Thursday afternoon the employees were informed during a status update meeting at the companys location on the West-side of Porsgrunn.
From zero to 44
From the start in 1999 Magne has been building brick by brick. From a zero NOK turnover to a 44 million NOK turnover last year.
-We’ve had a healthy economy the entire time, and we’ve made money every single year, he reveals to us.
And the company will continue doing this. According to Rønningen their spirit is lifted and they’re ready to give it their all.
-I have complete faith in this. We’ll keep working on bringing the best service to our customers from Notodden to Grenland and Kragerø, he says.
Side by side
Even though we will continue our business as usual there will be a visual change. The TESS-signs will soon decorate the walls.
-The customers want to have it all in one place. TESS is great at hoses, couplings and hydraulics, while we’re great at mechanical and consumables, Rønning says and Is backed up by Ansgar Karlsen.
-We won’t be merged, but rather make use of the synergy. We want to maintain the existing customer-relations. We have professionals on both sides of the counter, says Karlsen.
He adds that he is humbled by what Grenland manages and maintains as an industrial site.
He brags: -It is an incredibly nice industrial area.
Will continue growing
Alongside TESS and TESS-owned J.E.Sveiseservice in Skien the company will now have a 100 million NOK turnover in Grenland. Ansgar Karlsen tells us that the group has had strong growth recently, and that they’ve made acquisitions for 350 million NOK. The combined total turnover for the TESS group is more than 2 billions NOK in 2017, both domestic and international.
-We’ve had a nice and close dialogue with Industrifokus and Magne Rønningen from the start, with mutual trust and respect, he says.
Now the good cooperation will be continued and both parties have great faith in the future.
-We’re really excited about this, says Rønningen.
